Musa Adamu Aliyu has been proposed by President Bola Tinubu to lead the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
He succeeded Bolaji Owasanoye, who had been chosen by the late President Muhammadu Buhari to lead the ICPC in July 2018.
Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s special adviser on media and publicity, verified the information in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said that Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu was also chosen by the president to serve as the commission’s secretary.
According to him, the action was taken in the president’s capacity as authorized by Section 3(6) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.
The statement said: “The President has approved the outgoing Chairman’s request to proceed on pre-end of duration leave starting on November 4, 2023, prior to the expiration of his tenure on February 3, 2024. The new Chairman of the ICPC is hereby nominated for confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
“Mr. Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu’s appointment as Secretary of the Commission takes effect immediately, per the President’s directive, as the position of Secretary to the Commission does not need Senate confirmation.”
