MHM workshop facilitators

On Thursday 30th January, 2020 the legislator representing Ikeja Constituency 2 at Lagos House of Assembly, Hon Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, took his inclusive representation Agenda to a school in his constituency.

The girls empowerment initiative was held at Oke-Ira Senior Grammar School, Ojodu LCDA axis Ikeja constituency 2. This idea was created based on the knowledge that thousands of girls absent themselves from school due to period poverty. The initiative came up with training school girls how to make their reusable menstrual pad and training them on menstrual hygiene 

‘’The project themed Menstrual Hygiene Management Workshop 2020’’ was spearheaded by Hope Spring Water Charity Foundation in collaboration with Hameedah Poverty Relief Foundation. The workshop trained 20 girls selected from various classes of Oke- Ira Senior Grammar School and facilitated by Mrs Yemi Dabiri the founder of Clipeg Solution Foundation. The MHM expert educated the girls on menstrual Hygiene . Mrs Dabiri was supported by Jamiu Jimoh of Jamie creation, Mrs Hameedat Balogun, founder, Hameedah Poverty Relief Foundation and Hope Spring Volunteer, Mrs Monsurat Bakare.The girls were trained on how to make their own reusable pads.

The girls trained at the workshop expressed their joy for partaking in the training and commended Hon Adedamola Richard Kasunmu and partners for conducting such an empowerment program in the school. Mrs Shogunle, the school Chairperson of Parents Teachers Forum expressed appreciation to Hon Kasumu, Hope Spring Water Foundation and Hameedah Foundation for coming up with such a thoughtful initiative. She said ‘’ The training will go a long way in making learning more conducive for the girl child’’ Rounding up the program, Mrs Hameedat Balogun described Hon Ademola Richard Kasunmu ‘’As an inspiring He for she advocate who ought to be emulated by other political office holders’’

This initiative will help alleviate period poverty. Reduce school absenteeism by keeping more girls in school during menstruation to complete their education. Also introducing eco-friendly menstrual materials that reduces waste.
