Do you need to reduce your coffee consumption? you can probably do that easily. What if you have to quit drinking coffee all together, that can be a bit challenging. Well, there is a growing trend in so-called alternatives to coffee. The reason for my scepticism is that you would expect an alternative to something to taste somewhat like what you are substituting.  Most of the coffee alternatives I have come across, taste nothing like coffee. 

Despite that, a lot of people love these coffee alternatives and they are growing in popularity.  My second scepticism about them is the cost.  About 250 grams of a decent coffee will cost you about £3. Compare that with a similar size coffee alternative, which tastes nothing like coffee, has a great aroma but smells nothing like coffee and costs twice, sometimes three times as much as the real thing.
