The Sony SLT- A37 is a new, recently announced entry level digital single lens translucent (DSLT) camera with a 16.1 mega-pixel 23.5 x 15.6mm Exmor APS-C HD CMOS sensor. It is the successor to the SLR – A35, It will be available around the end of May 2012 and and is expected to be priced at around $600/ £530. The camera will be available with the new 18-135mm f3.5-5.6, which gives approximately 8x zoom, which is quite generous for a kit lens.
The camera has many features, just a few are listed below:
- 50i/25p AVCHD video recording
- Articulating LCD (Liquid Chrystal Display
- 16.1 Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor
- High sensitivity, and wide ISO range (ISO 100-16,000)
- 15 point autofocus system (3 cross type)
- Thanks to SLT technology, the camera is capable of a speedy 7 frames per second, while using xcontinuous autofocus, and again, thanks to SLT technology, the screen does not black out during high speed bursts
- Intelligent Superior Auto Mode
- Auto Portrait Framing detects your subjects face, and creates a perfectly cropped, beautiful portrait for inexperienced photographers
- Clear Image Zoom doubles your lens’s magnification, without lowering resolution
- It also has Sony’s usual: 3D panorama, sweep panorama, video mode, PASM, and photo effects
- 3in LCD screen for good image viewing
This is a camera that would suit an inexperienced photographer who is looking to make that leap from a compact (point and shoot) camera.
