It is obvious that RIM will show off their new Blackberry 10 smartphone on January 30th. However, there was no word about the company’s next line of tablets that will run on the latest OS until recently when Research in Motion sent out their press release announcing to the world that their Blackberry 10 mobile operating system will power both smartphones and tablets.

Research In Motion confirms that BlackBerry 10, its new mobile computing platform that will power the next generation of smartphones and tablets, will be featured in a commercial during Super Bowl XLVII.

Quote’s source: RIM’s press release.

Friday, the company announced that it will air a 30 second commercial during Super Bowl XLVII. The commercial will be the first ever advertisement that the company airs during Super Bowl, and will highlight the company’s new Blackberry 10 device.

RIM’s last tablet was the Blackberry Playbook which did not do as well as the company expected. The tablet features a 7-inch LCD display (1024 x 600 pixels screen resolution), a 1 GHz dual core processor, 16/32/64 GB of internal storage, 1 GB of RAM, a 3 megapixel front-facing camera, a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, and an Adobe flash enabled HTML5 web browser. Its more expensive LTE version was limited to 32 GB of internal storage capacity.

According to reports, the Blackberry Playbook was a fail because Research in Motion rushed its release before the tablet was ready. Hopefully, Research In Motion learned its lesson, and that was the cause of why the company delayed the release of its latest operating system and the devices that takes advantage of it.
